Our founder, lead publishing consultant, and chief editor & designer’s biggest passion in life (aside from motherhood) is the written word. And, aside from her children, books have always been her favorite thing. She has loved them her whole life and continues to find purpose in their existence every day.
She believes that helping authors produce professional quality books — making visions and lifelong dreams come to life — and giving them the right tools to successfully self-publish and feel confident in managing their own marketing, sales and distribution is one of the greatest gifts she can give to the authors of this world.
Her unique set of skills, degrees in English Literature and Business Operations, and combined professional and personal life experiences give her the ability to do this for authors in a way nobody else on earth can, and she is honored to be able to do so. Krista has helped hundreds of authors successfully self-publish bestselling books across the world.
Manuscript editing
The most important thing to do when getting your book ready for publication is editing. ANY writer, no matter how good you are, needs a second set of eyes on your manuscript in order to make sure it is clean, coherent, organized properly, and free of mistakes.
Developmental editing focuses on high-level components of your work including plot, structure, character arcs, organization, "flow", and overall coherence. Copy and line editing focus on the grammatical structure of your work including wordiness, spelling, punctuation, tense, syntax, and sentence structure.
If you are in the process of writing, or finished writing but aren't quite ready to hire for developmental or line edits, we can evaluate your manuscript and help advise you on the next steps you should take in moving forward to polish your work.
If you want to write a book but do not know how to get started or how to organize your book, we can also help you outline your manuscript and plan your writing so that you are able to produce a book according to your intended timeline.
pRINT & EBOOK
DESIGN & FORMATTING
After you have written and editing your manuscript, the next step in self-publishing is formatting your book according to how you plan to distribute it.
Whether your are offset-printing, using a print-on-demand platform like KDP or IngramSpark, or sharing digitally with an eBook, we can format your book for printing and electronic distribution using a design that we will create together.
We design and format books of all types, sizes, and styles and can include illustrations, graphics, and text based on your individual needs. Custom graphics can also be created in-house if you do not have your own.
If you are producing a children's book, we can help you find an illustrator and help you manage the illustration process including creating an illustration contract, creating and communicating and illustration process and timeline, and ensuring the proper delivery of usable files.
We create custom (non-AI) covers for every book based on individual author wishes. Book covers can be illustrated using a third-party illustrator or composed using graphic elements that we create in-house.
Branding (graphics, fonts, colors, imagery, etc.) is an important aspect of properly marketing your book. We create custom branding for your book that can be using for all of your marketing needs which may include websites, social media, online book listings, and PR related to your book.
SELF-PUBLISHING & MARKETING CONSULTING
Self-publishing can often be overwhelming for many reasons. It is hard to get right the first time, especially when you are unfamiliar with the different platforms and how to best position your book for success from the get-go. We take you step-by-step through the entire process so that it is easy to understand and gives you the long-term knowledge you need to maintain your publication at a high level.
We help you self-publish your book on the most popular self-publishing platforms (Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and IngramSpark) so that your book performs well from the moment you hit "publish". The beauty of self-publishing is that you get to keep all your royalties and maintain the rights to your content, and we teach you how to manage your book listings and the ins-and-outs of the back end of the platforms for long-term success.
In order to launch your book properly, we also guide you through our proprietary book launch process that will allow your book to perform its best organically on the major retailer websites.
Once your book is available for sale online, we also teach you how to properly market and distribute your book to retailers so that your book is also available in brick-and-mortar book stores.
Marketing is a HUGE aspect of any book's success. We help authors create and execute manageable marketing strategies for their books and create all of the basic content you will need to include in the marketing including PR kits, websites, social media accounts, graphic elements, written copy, and so on. We also help author submit books for professional reviews, accolades, and awards.
